Making the most of the Census - Aberdeenshire Council
Wednesday 10 June, 2015
Additional slides which were used for further information on the day
The session was jointly presented by Celia Macintyre (National Records of Scotland) and Tom Macintyre (University of Edinburgh). This course outlines the results from the 2011 Census in Scotland, and demonstrates a number of ways of accessing and using the published resources. The morning session will focus on the kind of information that is available, how it is organised and how it can best be retrieved using the Scottish Census website. The afternoon session will look in more detail at origin-destination data, which gives information about both migration and commuting patterns. The course will also give an introduction to other resources from UK Censuses including those which are available through the UK Data Service, and will give participants an opportunity to discuss their specific requirements. The approach will be a mixture of short lectures and practical session using standard software packages, including Excel.
