Only a small number of census security-cleared staff may see census data.
Everyone working with personal census details is security checked and must sign an undertaking that they will protect the privacy of information.
Your personal census information will be held securely and only made available after 100 years when census records can be released.
When completing your questionnaire online, you can check that the small security padlock is displayed. This indicates that your data is being securely transferred. The padlock is usually found in the bottom right hand corner of the screen or in the title bar of your browser.
Your Internet Questionnaire Access Code is specific to your household and should not be shared with anyone else. Similarly, the password you create should not be shared with anyone else.
Look after your questionnaire. Keep it in a safe place. If possible, you should post it as soon as you have completed it.
Alternatively, you can arrange for it to be collected by your census enumerator. You can arrange this by using the electronic contact facility or by contacting the Census Helpline 0845 603 1823 or textphone service 0845 603 1823 .
