Why this question is asked

This question is designed to help you answer question H2 which follows, by asking you to think about who usually lives at your address.

Help with answering

For most people the address at which they usually live will be their permanent or family home. People who have a second UK address should be counted as usually living at their permanent or family home address even if the majority of time is spent at another UK address.

If you do not have a permanent or family home address, you should be counted as usually living at the address where you spend the most time.

The options listed are examples of the type of people who should be counted as usually living at an address. Please note that the list of options is not complete and some categories may overlap. If someone in your household fits into more than one category (for example, someone who is both a student and a family member), you can tick more than one box. However, the person must only be counted once in your answer to question H2 that follows.

Babies born on or before 27 March 2011 should be included on the questionnaire even if they are still in hospital and have not yet returned home.

If you need more advice about who to include, see the Extra Guidance for H1 to H5.
