How to fill in your questionnaire
Please choose the section of the questionnaire that you need assistance with below...
Help with questions
This section provides guidance to help you answer the census questions.
There are two types of questions:
- questions about the household (household questions); and
- questions about the individual (individual questions)
The Household Questionnaire asks 13 questions about the household and up to 35 questions about each individual within the household.
The Individual Questionnaire asks only questions about the individual.
For each question, there are sections on:
How to answer
- Basic information about how to answer the question on paper.
Why the question is asked
- Information about how the information gathered is used.
Extra help is also available - each question has one or both of the following sections:
Help with answering
- Clarification of instructions and important guidance to help you answer correctly.
More questions?
- Q and A giving further guidance on how to answer, using particular circumstances as examples.
You can also contact us if you need more help or advice.
It is very important that you answer the questions as accurately as you can – the results are used to produce statistics that help decide how billions of pounds of taxes will be spent every year on services everyone needs, such as education, transport and healthcare.
Remember, the answers you give to the census questions will shape Scotland’s future.
