Scotland's Census: Shaping Our Future

Do you have to fill in the census?Fine Illustration

Everyone needs to be included on a census questionnaire. The census is required by law and taking part is the best way to avoid the risk of a fine of up to £1,000.

We ask people to fill in their census questionnaire to reflect their circumstances on 27 March 2011and to return it to us now.

It is important that everyone fills in their questionnaire as fully and accurately as possible. The answers will help decide how and where billions of pounds will be spent every year on services such as health, housing and education. If the census misses anyone, you or someone you know could lose out.
